Muscle Relief Bath Bombs

As if baths weren’t relaxing enough already, these bath bombs use simple and natural ingredients to create a spa-like experience at home. Once placed in the bath these beauties will fizz and eventually dissolve to leave the room filled with incredible scent.

Although traditional bath bombs use ingredients such as Boric Acid which could be damaging to your health, it’s easy to achieve the same result without that risk.

This Rosemary and Eucalyptus bath bomb is perfect for relief from sore muscles. However, the possibilities are endless. If you’re looking for a relaxing bath, why not try lavender? Or if it’s invigoration you’re after, opt for citrus oils instead.

Equipment:

  • Scales 
  • Large mixing bowl 
  • Wooden spoon
  • Two-part mould
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Gloves
  • Goggles

Method (this makes 2 bath bombs of the 8):

  1. Put on your goggles and gloves.
  2. This makes 2 bath bombs as making 8 in one go is not possible unless you are very quick with the moulding.
  3. Mix 100g of Bicarbonate of Soda and 25 drops of your favourite essential oils together in the mixing bowl using the wooden spoon (until fully blended).
  4. Use 20 drops of Rosemary to 10 drops of Eucalyptus for this blend or make your own.
  5. Add 25ml Grapeseed oil and 6-8g of Cream of Tartar (1 heaped teaspoon) into the mixing bowl.
  6. Stir thoroughly until fully blended together (approximately 3 mins).
  7. Stir 50g of Citric Acid into the mixing bowl (until fully blended).
  8. Wet the mixture by adding a few sprays of water at a time from the spray bottle (approximately 25 sprays) until mixture holds together when squeezed (A little fizzing is normal). Take care because too much water will make your bath bomb soft and fragile.
  9. To make your first bath bomb transfer half of the mixture into the mould and press in firmly, slightly overfilling the mould halves.
  10. Place the mould on the palm of one hand, place your other hand on the top and squeeze together tightly for 1 minute.
  11. After about 1 minute of applying firm pressure, gently keep the bath bomb in the palm of your hand and remove the top half of the mould (do not twist the mould when removing the first half), then carefully remove the other half. 
  12. If the bath bomb doesn’t hold shape or is too difficult to remove from the mould, empty the contents back into the bowl, break it up and try again (adding a couple more squirts of water and mix).
  13. Repeat steps 9 to 11 to make your second bath bomb.
  14. Leave in a cool dry environment (the perfect opportunity for tea break and clean up).
  15. Repeat the entire process to make 2 more bath bombs each time
