Shower Spa Fizzers with Essential Oils
You know those days when all you want to do is have a long soak in the bath, with a book and a glass of the good stuff, but life just laughs in your face and hands you your to-do list? This super easy DIY is for those days. Those days when time just forces you to settle for a shower. Trust us though, these aromatherapy fizzing melts will leave you wondering why you were so fussed about having a bath in the first place.
Thanks to the power of essential oils, you can turn your shower into a five-minute spa session that will help to release tension and clear your mind. With the help of lavender and chamomile you’ll be back to yourself in no time. Although, we can’t promise that those five minutes won’t turn into ten…
To make 15-20 small shower melts you will need:
- 1 cup Baking Soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ¼ cup corn starch
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 5 drops of lavender essential oil (or to your preference)
- 5 drops of chamomile essential oil (or to your preference)
- The contents of two chamomile tea bags
Step One: Combine your baking soda, citric acid and corn starch and mix together with a hand whisk.
Step Two: Add in your coconut oil and mix to bring the dry ingredients together until it resembles something like chunky bread crumbs.
Step Three: Now for the most important bit, adding in your essential oils! Mix them in thoroughly and then add in your chamomile tea. This will create texture and make the melts look extra pretty if you want to give them as gifts.
Step Four: Pack the mixture into silicone moulds or glass ramekins lined with cling film. Make sure to press it down firmly and then leave to dry for 24 hours. They’re worth the wait, we promise!
Step Five: Turn the moulds out and enjoy!
To use your luxurious new melts, just place them in the base of your shower, preferably out of the direct water stream. The larger you make them, the longer they will last. Those made in the average ice tray will probably fizz away for around 5 minutes each, but the gorgeous scent will last for a lot longer! Store them in an air tight container or bag to keep them strong and smelling sweet.
